FINE ART AND ILLUSTRATIONS :
I think of a piece of art as anything that opens up to an observant viewer, a portal to experiences-familiar or otherwise. In that sense, I believe an artist has a true responsibility, especially in these times of distress and disharmony, to give one, a glimpse into the good, the beautiful and the liberating. My works are an attempt to this end. I dabble with many themes, but the underlying thread in all the works is a sense of flow – visually represented through lines-hundreds upon hundreds of lines. Fine, intricate patterns and contours, a generative,fractal-like repetition of the curves and strokes,is what could be identified as the signature of this phase,of my works. The pen, thus, is the most potent medium to convey this dynamism, this flow. I have been experimenting and evolving this style for over two years now, before which, my works mostly hovered between traditional methods of painting.
The biggest influence on my works is the patterns and geometries found in nature-roots and barks of trees, their textures, wings of insects, the ribs on leaves, the surface of flowing water, cloud formations, waves, rocks, sand dunes and much more. Where colors are involved, I tend to use warm colors-mostly owing to the huge influence that the tradition of temple arts in India, has had on me.
I undertake commissions for artworks for home and office spaces, illustration works for books and art installations.
A NEW APPROACH TO BRANDING, IDENTITY AND ADVERTISING :
Advertising through the conventional print and visual media have reached a state of saturation and the core idea of creating a connect between a product and its user is often bypassed. This is where the use of art installations as media for advertising products and services gives hope.
Art – whether it be visual or the performing arts, are the easiest way in, to a person’s heart. A piece of art connects with a person’s senses like no other. The sights and sounds experienced when around a work of art are powerful beyond words. I attempt to use this very power of the arts to give a product more meaning, in the eyes of the user by trying to help the user make subtle associations between the emotion that the artwork created in them, with the product that we advertise using the art installation.
